Fact Check: Marjorie Taylor Greene Did NOT Tweet 'Everyone Needs To Buy More 'FVCK JOE BIDEN' Flags' Fake Tweet

Did Marjorie Taylor Greene tweet, "Everyone needs to buy more 'FVCK JOE BIDEN' flags"? No, that's not true: This is a fake tweet that originated from a parody account on X. There is no evidence that this tweet was ever published on Greene's real verified X account. A spokesperson for Greene said the account making the post was not affiliated with Greene.

The claim appeared in a post on Threads (archived here) on June 17, 2024. The caption opened:

She has the mental acuity of a child. Another religious hypocrite.

The image in the post appeared to be a screenshot of a purported tweet attributed to Greene. It reads:

Everyone needs to buy more 'FVCK JOE BIDEN' Flags and signs. We have an Election to win

This is what the post looked like on Threads at the time of writing:

A search of X, formerly known as Twitter, for the social media user named in the screenshot of the tweet in the post, @MTGrepp, produced an account called "Marjorie Taylor Greene Press Release (Parody)" (archived here). The account bio makes it clear that this is a self-described parody account as it reads:

Want to take back OUR country? JOIN ME 🇺🇸 Donald Trump won🥇Proud Patriot. Pro Elon Musk (parody)

The exact June 16, 2024, tweet (archived here) seen in the Threads post was on the Marjorie Taylor Greene Press Release (Parody) account on the same day, June 16, 2024.

Lead Stories reached out to a representative of Greene's concerning the validity of this claim. Nick Dyer, communications director at "Greene for Congress," responded in a June 20, 2024, email:

A small bit of research shows that this is a parody account not affiliated with Congresswoman Greene.

A search (archived here) of the X platform for the keywords from the tweet attributed to the real account of Greene produced no results to substantiate this claim.

Greene's official X platform account displays a gray verified checkmark indicating that the account belongs to a government official. A search of the official @RepMTG account revealed that Greene had not published any tweets on June 16, 2024, with her tweets from before and after that date below:
