Fact Check: NO Evidence Joe Rogan Is Suing MSNBC For $30 Million For A Deceptive Video Edit That Made Him Look Pro-Kamala Harris No Legal Docs

Is Joe Rogan suing MSNBC for $30 million over a deceptive video edit that made him look like he was pro-Kamala Harris? No, that's not true: There is no publicly available evidence as of this writing that Rogan has filed a lawsuit or taken any legal action against MSNBC. The social media posts reporting it happened did not offer any documentary evidence or other proof. The network did post a misleading clip claiming Rogan was talking about Harris but then issued a correction stating he was referring to Tulsi Gabbard.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) where it was published on X, formerly known as Twitter, on August 4, 2024. It opened:

Joe Rogan is suing MSNBC for $30 million for editing a video to make it look like he was pro-Kamala Harris when he was actually criticizing her

This is what the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

The post on X offered no evidence that Rogan was suing MSNBC. A Google search using keywords (archived here) did not return any credible news reports about a lawsuit. Had Rogan, whose show attracts about 14 million listeners, stated he had filed one or had it been publicly filed in courts, this would have been major news covered by nationally reputable news outlets.

MSNBC did post a video on their TikTok page (archived here) on August 3, 2024, with Rogan speaking and a chyron that read:

Joe Rogan says he thinks Harris will win the presidency

The caption on the account had a correction that read:

Joe Rogan said on his podcast that he thinks vice president Harris will win the presidency. 'They just want no Trump, no matter what, and they're willing to gaslight themselves,' Rogan said to guest Michael Malice. Correction: We have removed an earlier version of this post that incorrectly implied Rogan was talking more about vice president Kamala Harris. He was referring to Tulsi Gabbard.

A search of the Unified Court System in New York State, where MSNBC is headquartered, for a civil lawsuit filed by Rogan as of August 5, 2024 returned zero results, as this screenshot shows:
