Did a CNN fact check find that Vice President Kamala Harris" lied 113 times" in her Democratic National Convention speech? No, that's not true: A CNN representative told Lead Stories the claim was false. CNN fact checked four claims in Harris' convention speech in an online article. The number 113 was not mentioned in the CNN article nor was there evidence that CNN claimed Harris lied.
The claim appeared in a post on X (archived here) on September 2, 2024, that read:
BREAKING: CNN just released their fact check of Kamala Harris' speech at the DNC Convention. It turns out Kamala Harris lied 113 times within her 37 minute speech. Retweet so all Americans see this vital fact check on Kamala Harris.

Lead Stories contacted CNN and in a September 3, 2024, email, Anna Jager, director of communications at CNN, told Lead Stories:

The link Jager sent to Lead Stories was an August 23, 2024, article titled, "Fact-checking night 4 of the Democratic National Convention." In it, the article states that it would fact check "five claims Vice President Kamala Harris made in her speech." Nowhere in the article is the number 113 mentioned. CNN does not claim that Harris "lied" in her acceptance speech either. Four of the five claims were Harris statements, while the last one was made by Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey.
The Harris statements CNN fact checked were focused on the Supreme Court's immunity decision, Trump restricting abortion, Trump raising costs for families by $4,000 a year and Trump giving tax breaks to the wealthy. The fifth fact check was done on remarks by Casey, who highlighted Harris' plan to establish "anti-price gouging laws in an effort to lower the cost of food."
Lead Stories did a search using keywords on Google News, visible here, (archived here), which found no credible documents or reporting to corroborate the claim.
