Fact Check: Michael Jordan Has NOT Endorsed Trump For President -- Jordan's Management Denied Claim No Endorsement

Did basketball star Michael Jordan endorse Donald Trump for president? No, that's not true: Jordan's management told Lead Stories that there was "absolutely no truth" to this claim. At the time of writing, Jordan had endorsed neither Trump or Kamala Harris for president.

The claim appeared in a post on X (archived here) on November 3, 2024. The caption read:

JUST IN: Michael Jordan becomes the latest to endorse Donald Trump for President

This is what the post looked like at the time of writing:

The post does not provide any proof of the claim.

Lead Stories contacted Jordan's management, and in a November 4, 2024, email, we received this statement:

There is absolutely no truth to the claim that Michael Jordan has made an endorsement in the presidential election.

Lead Stories searched for recent news stories mentioning "Michael Jordan endorsed" and "Donald Trump" on Google News and found no credible sources or evidence that would confirm the claim of a Jordan endorsement (archived here).

A Google News search (archived here) did find one previous presidential endorsement.

In 2000, Bill Bradley, a former basketball player and U.S. senator, got Jordan's endorsement in the Democratic primary race against Al Gore. He did not become the nominee.

At the time of writing, the latest news concerning Jordan and an endorsement for president was that George Karl, a former basketball coach, had wanted Jordan to endorse Vice President Harris.
