Fact Check: NO Evidence Reba McEntire Stated 'Drag Queens Shouldn't Be Around Kids' Fact Check: NO Evidence Reba McEntire Stated 'Drag Queens Shouldn't Be Around Kids' No Proof

Did Reba McEntire say "drag queens shouldn't be around kids"? No, that's not true: Lead Stories could not locate any evidence of the country music singer having said that. In fact, McEntire has been quoted as saying she was disappointed in an effort in Tennessee to restrict drag performances in public spaces.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on Facebook on November 22, 2024. It said:

The post does not offer evidence to back up its claim. Instead, it linked to website topcelebnews.us (archived here), which repeated the claim but also provided no credible evidence to support it.

A search of Google News (archived here) and a search of Google (archived here) did not return any evidence to confirm the claim. A similar post (archived here) was made in August 2024, only with slightly different wording.

Opposes anti-drag laws

As reported by Forbes and Billboard, McEntire has previously spoken out against anti-drag laws, saying she was "disappointed" by a Tennessee effort to restrict drag performances in public places or where minors might be present.

Lead Stories contacted McEntire's publicist regarding the post that is the focus of this fact check, and will update this story if a response is received.

At the time this fact check was written, Snopes had reviewed a similar claim.
