Fact Check: Photo Does NOT Show Sean 'Diddy' Combs' Home Destroyed By LA Fires In January 2025 -- It Was An Ohio Mansion From 2014 Not Diddy's

Does a photo authentically show rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs' home being destroyed by the January 2025 Los Angeles fires? No, that's not true: This is not Combs' house. Rather, the photo shows an Ohio mansion that burned down in 2014, predating the Los Angeles fires by over a decade. As of January 13, 2025, Lead Stories found no evidence that the wildfires had destroyed Combs' home.

The claim appeared in a Facebook post (archived here) published on January 9, 2025. The caption read:

📵🔥 P Diddy's mansion in California has been completely consumed by fire.?🔥

It should be noted that the house would be under investigation in a couple of days where many names would be involved in the case, unfortunately that will no longer be possible.💨🔥

This is what the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

A reverse image search of the home on fire in the claim resulted in new articles from Ohio news outlets. Evidence of the results are below:

An article from The Blade, a newspaper based in Toledo, Ohio, wrote about a fire destroying a "10,000-square-foot mansion" in Indian Hill, Ohio, in January 2014 (archived here). Evidence of The Blade article with the same image from the Facebook claim is below:

More articles on this Ohio mansion being burned down can be found here and here (archived here and here, respectively).

A Google News search for confirmation that the rapper's house had been burned down resulted in fact checks debunking the claim. As of this writing, Lead Stories found no evidence that Comb's Los Angeles home had been "consumed by fire" on Google News (archived here).

Checking Combs' Instagram, Facebook, X, and personal website, we also found no evidence that would corroborate the claim (archived here, here, here, and here, respectively).

We contacted the Los Angeles Fire Department and Comb's team regarding the posy. We will update this article when a response is received from either party.
