Fact Check: AI Photo Shows Simone Biles Pregnant And Posing In Evening Wear Next To Jonathan Owens -- No Pregnancy Announced AI Baby Bump

Does a viral photo really show gymnast Simone Biles pregnant with a clearly visible baby bump posing next to her husband Jonathan Owens who is wearing a suit and bow tie? No, that's not true: A detection tool indicated the image of the Olympic gold medalist was generated using AI. Biles posted pictures to her Instagram account only days ago that show no such baby bump and no pregnancy was announced by the couple.

An example of the image can be seen in this X post (archived here) published on February 22, 2025 with a description that read:

Congratulations to American Olympic Gymnast Gold Medalist Simone Biles and NFL Bears Player Jonathan Owens on Their Pregnancy announcement!!!❤️

This is what the image looked like:

Lead Stories looked for a better quality version of the image and found one with a higher resolution in this Facebook post (archived here).

AI detection tool Hive said it was 79 percent likely the image was generated using AI.

Just two days ago, on February 21, 2025 Biles posted a series of images (archived here) to her Instagram account, clearly not showing any baby bump like the one in the viral image:

Her husband posted a series of images and videos of the couple taking a helicopter ride to the platform on February 22, 2025, similarily not showing any signs of pregnancy:

Lead Stories searched Google News for news stories mentioning "Simone Biles" and "pregnant" (archived here) and the only results that were returned were about a previous pregnancy rumor dating back to the summer of 2024.
