Fact Check: Laila Ali Did NOT Die While Giving Birth In A Canadian Hospital -- It's A Click Bait Death Hoax Click Bait

Did Laila Ali lose her life while giving birth in a Canadian hospital in March 2025? No, that's not true: There is no evidence that the 47-year-old former world boxing champ and daughter of boxing great Muhammad Ali was pregnant in March 2025 or that she died while birthing a child. Ali posted a video on March 30, 2025, to tell fans she is alive and the death report was a hoax.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) shared on Facebook on March 28, 2025. It opened:

Another tragedy has struck the boxing World, as daughter of boxing legend, Muhammed Ali, Laila Ali, has lost her life while giving birth in a Canadian hospital. This is coming hours after boxing great George Foreman lost his life at 76. Laila Ali was a professional boxer who competed from 1999 to 2007. During her career, she held the WBC, WIBA, IWBF and IBA. The 47year old retired undefeated...

Laila Ali became aware of the death hoax and posted a video on social media to make it clear to her fans that she was alive and well.

The claim that Ali died 'hours' after the death of former boxing champ George Foreman on the evening of March 21, 2025, would place the purported death on Saturday, March 22. If she was in the midst of dying during childbirth, she took time to post this "rest in peace" message about Foreman on her Instagram account:

She posted a "positive vibes" message six days after her purported death:

Ali made no mention of a pregnancy when she was interviewed about her family and career on "The Art of Ward" show in January 2025.

Facebook posts making the false death claim point to a recently created website mimicking a legitimate news source, registered on March 19, 2025. We will not include this link since it potentially has malicious malware that could be harmful to your device or privacy. These screen shots, however, show the "article" is simply one false paragraph that is repeated several times.

A Google search of "Laila Ali" did not reveal any reports of her death in March 2025.
