Fact Check: Fox News Did NOT Report Journey Singer Arnel Pineda Was Sentenced To Life Imprisonment Not Reported

Did Fox News report singer Arnel Pineda had been sentenced to life imprisonment? No, that's not true: The viral video with a misspelled title claiming the lead vocalist of Journey was sentenced to "life inprisonment" was never broadcast by Fox News. No other media have reported on the alleged news either.

A viral video (archived here) published on March 25, 2025 making the claim used a Fox News logo in its thumbnail caption image. The title of the video was "Arnel Pineda From Journey Sentenced To Life Inprisonment" and in the first few seconds a voiceover said:

The music world has been left in complete shock today as devastating news emerges about Journey's lead vocalist Arnell Pineda, the Filipino singer whose rags to riches story captivated millions when he joined the legendary rock band in 2007, has been sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in a San Francisco courtroom.

This is the image used as a thumbnail for the video on YouTube which said the "sentence is final" next to a Fox News logo:

However a search of the Fox News website for items containing the words "Arnel Pineda sentenced" brought up no results (archived here).

A search of Google News for news articles containing the words "Arnel Pineda", "sentenced" and "San Francisco" only brought up a single result (archived here), an article from 2015 about the band's drummer Deen Castronovo getting a probationary sentence, it was not about Pineda.

The video's description carried a disclaimer more or less admitting the story may not have been entirely real:
