Fact Check: Tesla Showroom In Manhattan Has NOT Closed Permanently As Of March 19, 2025 Still Open

Has the Tesla showroom in Manhattan, New York closed permanently as of March 19, 2025? No, that's not true: There is no evidence online that Tesla has closed its only Manhattan dealership. A Tesla employee at 860 Washington Street showroom told Lead Stories on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 that the location was still open.

The claim appeared in a meme (archived here) posted on Threads by @progressivepower on Monday, March 17, 2025, under the title "Still a long way to go". It read:

TESLA Manhattan closed permanently!

This is what the post looked like at the time of writing:

A Google map search showed Tesla operated only one location in Manhattan, which is located at 860 Washington Street.

Lead Stories spoke by phone on March 19, 2025 to a man who identified himself as a "Tesla Advisor" at the location. He said he worked in the new car sales department there. When we said we were calling to confirm if the dealership was still open, he answered:

We're not closed. We are open everyday.

A Google search of the phrase "Telsa Manhattan closed permanently" yielded no indication the claim was true.
