Fact Check: Donald Trump Did NOT Promote 'Referral Link' Unlocking 'Up To $1,000 Off' Tesla Purchase On X No Such Post

Did President Donald Trump publish a post on X offering his "referral link" for a discount on a Tesla purchase? No, that's not true: The image purporting to show the Trump post was made-up. Searches across Trump's account on X and across news reports did not show any evidence he published the supposed offer in question.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on X where it was published on March 11, 2025. It opened:

Oh boy. Here we go...

The shared image purporting to show a screenshot of Trump's account on X continued:

Get up to $1,000 off the purchase of a Tesla with my referral link.

This is what the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

There is no "referral link" visible in the made-up post.

The profile picture was consistent with what appeared on Donald Trump's profile on X, as of this writing, but Lead Stories found no traces of the post in question.

Lead Stories searched for the phrase "Get up to $1,000 off the purchase of a Tesla with my referral link" (archived here) on Trump's social media accounts on X and did not find any matching posts.

A Google search for the same phrase across his account on the platform came back empty:

A manual review of the account showed no entries published on March 11, 2025.

A Google search for the keywords seen here across news reports published on the day of the supposed post's publication produced no matches, either:

Trump's account on Truth Social showed a different profile picture on March 11, 2025, (archived here).

A search across an archive of his entries on that platform produced zero results as well.
