Fact Check: Trump Quote About Illegal Border Crossings Down 'More Than 100 Percent' WAS Published By White House Real Quote

Did the White House publish a quote by President Trump in which he said "illegal border crossings have plummeted" by "much more than 100 percent" in just over one month? Yes, that's true: The quote appeared in a publication titled "REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP BEFORE CABINET MEETING" that was published on the White House website on February 26, 2025. In another White House article about a different meeting Trump was also quoted as saying they were down "by nearly 100 percent."

A screenshot of the quote appeared in a post on X (archived here) on March 9, 2025 with a remark that said:

Some users in the comments speculated the screenshot was fake, with one claiming it had been created by manipulating a February 20, 2025 story (archived here) titled "REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP AT REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS ASSOCIATION MEETING" that had following quote:

In the past four weeks, illegal border crossings have plummeted by nearly 100 percent, and the tiny number of illegals that do make it across are being apprehended and sent right back to their home, where they belong.

However in an article published on the White House website on February 26, 2025 (archived here) titled "REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP BEFORE CABINET MEETING" Trump was indeed quoted as saying:

In just over one month, illegal border crossings have plummeted by numbers that nobody has actually ever seen before. It's much more than 100 percent.

The White House also published video on YouTube (archived here) of the President making the remark :
