Fact Check: AI Video Has Trump Ban Production Of Teslas In United States And Calling Elon Musk A 'Snake' -- Fabricated Audio AI Video

Did President Trump announce in a video that the production of Tesla cars would be banned in the United States? No, that's not true:The audio in the viral video, in which Trump could also be heard calling Elon Musk a "snake", was generated using AI according to a detection tool. It originated on an Instagram account with "AI" in its name.

The video appeared in a post (archived here) from an account named "DangerousAI" on June 7, 2025 with a description that read:

Donald Trump BANS Production of Tesla in USA after feud with Elon Musk 😦 #donaldtrump #trump #elonmusk #elon #epsteinfiles #epstein #tesla

This is the post in question:

Transcribed using Google's Pinpoint tool the audio track in the video said:

Today, I am here to announce that I will be banning the production of all Teslas in the United States of America effective immediately. As everyone knows, Elon stabbed me in the back a couple days ago and went crazy on his platform, X lying about my involvement in the Epstein files. So, I can't have that snake Elon making money in this country while I'm the president. Nobody likes Teslas anyways unless you're a nerd. They catch fire and break down easily so it's definitely not the best electric car out there.

And yes, I bought a Tesla a few months ago to show my support for Elon, but I have never driven it. That was just so he can back me in the election and it worked. Now I'm going to list that shitty Tesla for sale if anyone wants it. I'll let it go for $69. That's the real value of these junk cars. And more importantly, that snake will now go bankrupt. He will come back begging to me in a few days again.

An AI detector (Hiya in the InVid verification plugin) showed that the audio was likely not authentic and that several parts were the result of "voice cloning" and "very likely AI-Generated":

The account that posted the video (archived here) was named "DangerousAI" and it regularly posts similar clips of celebrities.
