Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show 'Lawless Rioters' Attacking Los Angeles Shop Owner In June 2025 -- It's 2024 Old Video

Does a video shared on social media show "lawless rioters" attacking a Los Angeles shop owner during "anti-American sovereignty riots" in June 2024? No, that's not true: The video was recorded at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Anaheim, California, on October 6, 2024. The video was included in reporting by local television stations and newspapers on that date. The store is about 23 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) shared on X on June 8, 2025, that included a video with the caption:

Horrifying. LA shop owner attacked and tased by lawless rioters who destroy his store during LA's anti-American sovereignty riots. https://t.co/8Vd6hhjebN

Users on social media only saw this title, description and thumbnail:

The video was aired by several Los Angeles television stations in October 2024, and it is available for viewing here on the news website of KTLA-TV at the time of writing.

The video is also on the KABC-TV YouTube page:

Police said the store was attacked by a flash mob during a street take over at the intersection of Knott and Lincoln Avenues in Anaheim, according to the Los Angeles Times. The location is in Orange County, about 23 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
