Fact Check: Old Video Screencap Shows White House 'Turned All Red' -- 2022 Event For Gun Violence Awareness 2022 Screencap

Does an image show the White House just "turned all red" and is this cause for a "major alert" somehow? No, that's not true: the photo used in a viral social media post is a screencap from a 2022 video. That footage showed the White House lit in orange to "raise gun violence awareness" on National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

The "alert" post with the image appeared on X (archived here) where it was published on July 3, 2025 with a caption that read :

🚨🚨🚨 MAJOR ALERT: THE WHITE HOUSE IN WASHINGTON DC HAS JUST TURNED ALL RED !!!

This was the post in question:

However, the exact same image can be seen 29 seconds into this video published on YouTube by Click On Detroit on June 4, 2022 (archived here), with the exact same pattern in traffic lights, headlights etc. in the background:

That video was titled "White House lit in orange to raise gun violence awareness" and the description read:

The White House was lit up in orange Friday for National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
