Fact Check: Tom Brady Did NOT Announce $50 Million Donation to Help Texas Flood Recovery Didn't Happen

Did the former NFL quarterback Tom Brady donate $50 million to help recovery efforts after devastating flooding in parts of Texas, in July 2025? No, that's not true: We found no corroboration for a blog post that was shared widely and also claimed Brady had personally joined rescue and recovery efforts on the ground. A statement attributed to Brady was completely fabricated.

The story appeared in a July 7, 2025, blog post (archived here) with the headline "Tom Brady have donated $50 million to support victims and aid in the search and rescue of those missing in the devastating flash floods in Texas". The story read, in part:

The quarterback recently donated an astounding $50 million to support victims of the catastrophic flash floods that ravaged Texas. Not stopping there, Brady personally traveled to the disaster site, offering his hands-on help in the search and rescue efforts for the missing...

Rather than simply writing a check, he made it clear that he wasn't just donating his money but his time and energy as well. In his own words, "When people are in need, you have to show up--not just financially, but physically. This is about being there for each other, not just from afar, but up close."

That story was false.

A search of Google News (archived here) and Yahoo! News (archived here) for the words "Tom Brady" and "flood" yielded no relevant results, meaning we found no even inadvertent corroboration for the claims that he had announced a $50 million donation, and had appeared in person to help recovery efforts.

Furthermore, the statement attributed to Brady in the blog post was fabricated. A Google search (archived here) for fragments from the statement yielded no relevant results, and we found no trace of any such statement on Brady's official website, or on his Facebook, Instagram and X accounts.
