Fact Check: FAKE Video Shows Uber Driver Demanding $1,000 From Immigrant Passenger and Threatening to Report Him to ICE Scripted Scene

Did a widely-shared video authentically show a real Uber driver attempting to extort $1,000 from an immigrant passenger and threatening to report him to ICE? No, that's not true: The people in the video were simply acting out a scene. The account that posted the sketch routinely publishes what it describes as "scripted content".

The sketch appeared in an April 8, 2025, post on YouTube (archived here), with the title:

Uber driver reports immigrant passenger to ICE #uberdriver

In the video, the camera focuses on the purported immigrant passenger, while the fictional Uber driver can be heard threatening to deliver him to ICE agents, in order to get a $1,000 reward. The driver offers the passenger the alternative of him paying her $1,000, and the sketch ends with the fake passenger "escaping" from the car.

The sketch can be watched below:

The woman who first posted the video, Chatejah George, describes her YouTube videos as "scripted content -- series -- movies" and describes herself as an "actress, director, writer". Her YouTube account (archived here) is filled with similar fake scenarios and scripted scenes:

Indeed, the man who played the immigrant passenger in the April 8, 2025, video, can be seen playing various characters in several different videos posted by George (archived here, here and here).

Parts of the video were reposted in a July 15 post on TikTok (archived here) which garnered nearly 3 million views in just two days.
