Fact Check: Video Of Rocket Launcher In Countryside Predates 2025 Conflict Between Thailand And Cambodia Old Video

Does a viral video show Cambodia firing RM-70 rockets at Thailand in 2025? No, that's not true: A viral post with over with 2.8 million views on X making that claim used footage that was already available on TikTok in 2022. The clip likely shows events from the Russia vs. Ukraine conflict.

One example of the video showed up in a post on X (archived here) published on July 24, 2025 with a caption that read:

🚨BREAKING:

Cambodia just fired RM-70 rockets at Thailand -- 20+ dead, mostly civilians. 🇰🇭⚔️🇹🇭

Border villages hit without warning.
This war just escalated -- fast.

This is what the first frame of the video looked like:

However the exact same video was already uploaded to TikTok on Friday, October 21, 2022 on an account named @vlad.senator (archived here). This is the video in question:

The description of the video at the time read:

This would place the footage in the context of the Ukraine-Russia war, although Lead Stories hasn't been able to confirm the exact origin of the video.
