Fact Check: The View Was NOT Cancelled, As Of July 25, 2025 -- Show Takes Annual Summer Hiatus Annual Hiatus

Was ABC's talk show The View permanently cancelled, as of July 25, 2025? No, that's not true: There was no such public announcement. As of this writing, the show was going on its annual summer hiatus in advance of a new season, said two of the co-hosts.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on Facebook on July 25, 2025. It opened:

SH0CKING ANNOUNCEMENT: ABC CEO Declares 'It's Time to Cancel the Worst Show on TV--THE VIEW!' The Stunning Decision That Shakes the TV World--What Led ABC to End the Iconic Show After 20 Years?

This is what the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

Lead Stories' searches across news reports on Google (archived here) and Yahoo (archived here) did not yield any articles citing a formal network's announcement to cancel the show.

The View has been a long-term target of false claims, as documented by Lead Stories. The most recent wave of rumors resurfaced after Joy Behar (archived here), another co-host, said (archived here) that The View was going on hiatus -- some social media users suggested (archived here) that, in light of criticism from the White House (archived here), it could mean the show's cancellation. But Behar didn't mention cancellation.

On July 24, 2025, Whoopi Goldberg (archived here), who co-hosts the show, also said on camera (archived here):

Here is what's going on. We will see you all tomorrow for another new show, and we'll be back for our new season in September.
