Fact Check: Donald Trump Did NOT Post About 'Fat, Ugly Losers' Critical Of Sydney Sweeney American Eagle Ad Campaign Didn't Post It

Did U.S. President Donald Trump post on Truth Social about "fat, ugly losers" criticizing the Sydney Sweeney American Eagle ad campaign? No, that's not true: The entry in question didn't appear on his profile or an archived version of it. A search of news archives yielded no entries that corroborated the purported remarks.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on X on July 31, 2025. It shared what seemed to be a screenshot of a post from one of Donald Trump's accounts on social media. That image read:

Many Democrats and Democrat supporters have been criticizing the AMERICAN EAGLE company, which has one of the great patriotic names for a company, for its latest ad campaign to sell Blue Jeans, starring the beautiful and talented Sydney Sweeney. These Online Crybabies are calling the company and Sydney fascists. TOTALLY RIDICULOUS. Selling blue jeans is about as American as you can get, if we're being totally honest. Maybe if these Fat, Ugly Losers spent more time working on themselves, they wouldn't be so angry about everything! MAGA!

This is what it looked like on X at the time of writing:

The appearance of what was claimed to be Trump's post looked almost consistent with his account on Truth Social, but it lacked a black Truth+ Premium black-and-white plus sign seen on both his profile (archived here) and posts (archived here) on the day of this article's publication:

Neither a manual review of Trump's posts on that platform nor a search across an archived version of his account on Truth Social (archived here) for the period between the launch of the American Eagle ad campaign with Sydney Sweeney on July 23, 2025 (archived here) and this article's publication date didn't show any results.

Textual searches across articles on Google News (archived here) and Yahoo! News (archived here) didn't yield any results.

This is not the first viral claim concerning the American Eagle ad campaign. Lead Stories previously wrote about fake statements falsely attributed to Sydney Sweeney on social media here and here.
