Fact Check: Story Promising Video Of Charlie Kirk's Father Collapsing In Grief Originated On Vietnamese Clickbait Site -- No Such Video, Story Used 2008 Obituary Photo Of Man Who Is Not Kirk's Father No Video

Is there a video of Charlie Kirk's father collapsing in grief at a memorial set up outside the Turning Point USA headquarters? No, that's not true: The promise of a video of Kirk's Father collapsing is a clickbait ploy. There is no video at the link provided in the Facebook post from a page operating from Vietnam. The photo included in the post is not Kirk's father but was taken from the 2008 obituary of a man with the same name.

The misleading promise of a video appeared in a post (archived here) where it was published on Sept. 11, 2025 by Acting Legends on Facebook. The post's caption included a link to the website thefloridascene.net:

"Give Me Back My Son, He's Only 31"😭 -- Grieving Father Collapses At Memorial For Charlie Kirk Outside Turning Point USA HQ In Phoenix -- In an emotional scene that has left millions shaken, the father of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk fell to his knees at a temporary memorial erected outside Turning Point USA's national headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona.
Clutching a framed photo of his son, he cried out: "Give me back my boy... he's only 31." Witnesses say the anguished plea echoed through the gathering crowd, many of whom wept openly, laying flowers, candles, and handwritten notes beneath the makeshift shrine.
Video of the heartbreaking moment spread rapidly across social media within hours, drawing an outpouring of grief and solidarity from across the political spectrum. "You could feel the pain in his voice--it was the sound of a father's heart breaking," one mourner said.

This is the composite image included with the post at the time of writing:

At the time of writing, a Google search for "Charlie Kirk's father" produces a misleading result (pictured below), showing a photo of a Robert W. Kirk and linking to a 2008 obituary (archived here). This man is not the father of Charlie Kirk, but they do have the same name and middle initial. Kirk's father, Robert Willard Kirk, is alive but has for the most part kept out of the public eye. He is the president of an architecture firm which lists the Trump Tower in New York City among its projects. A photo of him appeared on the firm's website in 2017 (archived here) but currently the website does not feature Kirk's picture. His LinkedIn profile picture is an artistic portrait rendering rather than a photo.

The thefloridascene.net article linked in the Facebook post may be a malicious link as virus protection software detected malvertizing on the site. The article does not contain a video of Kirk's father collapsing. The clickbait article does include an embedded video from the YouTube channel of The Telegraph. It is a short summary about the assassination and does not feature Kirk's father.
