Does a Superman poster in a Dairy Queen prove Charlie Kirk murder suspect Tyler Robinson was not photographed hours after the September 10, 2025, shooting? No, that's not true: Podcaster Candace Owens shared a security camera image that she said showed Robinson at a DQ in Orem, Utah, just six hours after the shooting. The presence of the Superman poster, part of a summertime promotion, in the background raised questions about when the photo was captured. But a freelance reporter for Lead Stories visited the Dairy Queen on September 19, 2025, where he was told by workers that the Superman poster was removed just days earlier.
The photo appeared in a video (archived here) posted on Facebook by Candace Owens under the title "I was sent an exclusive photo of Tyler Robinson." Owen's narration began:
Sometimes things don't go as planned, because before people realize they have anything, or even when they're trying to reach out to the feds, they're texting a friend who texts a friend, and the next thing you know, the whole neighborhood and all of Orem has something, and this is what happened. Something made its way around the entire town and into my tips line repeatedly. It is a very clear image of Tyler Robinson, allegedly taken, I'll say allegedly for safety here, but it's looking right according to my timeline, allegedly taken at 6:38pm at a nearby Dairy Queen. Here is that photo that we can show you. Take a look at this photo. What is wrong with this picture? A lot is wrong with this picture.
This is what the post looked like at the time of writing:

There was speculation that the presence of the Superman poster was evidence the image was captured by a Dairy Queen security camera well before September 10. It was part of a summer promotion launched in May 2025, timed for the release of the latest Superman film in July 2025. The film was no longer in widespread release in U.S. theaters on the day Kirk was killed.

Lead Stories visited two Dairy Queen locations on September 19, 2025, including the Orem store, and found the Superman poster was no longer displayed in the lobby. In both cases, we were told it was removed just days earlier, days after the shooting. It was replaced by an autumn promotional poster.

This fact check cannot confirm if the photo is proof that Robinson stopped for dinner at the Dairy Queen at 6:38 p.m., less than four miles from where Kirk was killed at 12:23 p.m., but we can confirm that we found nothing in the image that contradicts that timeline. There is no timestamp to prove or disprove the claim he was there on that day.
Owen did not disclose the source of the image beyond saying it was sent by several people to her tipline.
