Did President Trump sign into law an income tax exemption for families making less than $120,000? No, that's not true: No such exemption has passed the U.S. House and Senate. There is no such exemption on the official list of laws signed by Trump.
The claim appeared in a September 4, 2025 TikTok video (archived here) published by the AppalachianQueen5 account. It was titled:
Trump Signs Tax Law Favoring Families Under $120,000

In the video, the person on camera begins:
...my president, Trump, I love him, just signed into law that families making less than $120,000 a year, which is the majority, the majority of families in the United States will now not have to file taxes. They will not have to pay federal taxes. They will not have to get a tax refund at the end of the year because they loaned the government their money. My president signed that in. And I just cannot wait.
She goes on to say she expects "blue state" people will have to admit Trump helped them.
No such action was announced by the White House, as the official list presidential actions in the month of September shows (archived here):
Similarly, there was no mention of a tax exemption in the White House list (archived here) of September, 2025 official briefings and statements. The first item on the list, identified only by number, is the Homebuyer's Privacy Act, not an income tax exemption.
Using key words Lead Stories searched Google News' index of thousands of news sites and found no reports of congress passing such a bill, nor of Trump signing one into law . Lead Stories used the same search terms to check the Yahoo! News index of its partner sites and news services and found no credible reports of congressional passage or presidential approval of an income tax-eliminating law for people earning less than $120,000.
