Fact Check: Video Of Black Man Being Arrested Does NOT Show Suspect In Charlie Kirk Shooting Old Arrest

Does a video of a Black man being arrested show a suspect being arrested in the shooting of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025? No, that's not true: The video shared on X as the purported arrest video of a Kirk shooting suspect is from the June 25, 2025, arrest of a shooting suspect in Santa Monica, California. Police and university officials initially said a suspect was taken into custody, and video from the scene of the Kirk shooting on the campus of Utah Valley University shows a white man being arrested. CBS News later reported that man was determined not to be involved and he was released.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) shared by the @Dot4PF account on X.com on September 10, 2025. The caption above the video read:

University officials posted on the school website that a suspect was in custody, but media reports later in the afternoon said no suspect was arrested.

This video posted on Instagram on September 10, 2025 (archived here), claimed to be authentic video of the suspect in the Kirk shooting after his arrest, but CBS News later reported he was released.
