Does a viral clip show Tyler Robinson speaking in front of an audience at an event organized by the Democratic Socialists of America? No, that's not true: The original caption said it was a different person who doesn't even look like the suspect in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk. A face comparison tool confirmed that those are two different people.
The claim appeared in a reel (archived here) published on Facebook on September 12, 2025, under the following description:
WATCH -- Tyler Robinson speaking at an event in Salt Lake City for the Democratic Socialists of America:Per GROK - Based on video analysis and recent reports from sources like Al Jazeera, Salt Lake Tribune, and social media, the speaker appears to be Tyler Robinson, 22, linked to a Salt Lake City DSA event. He's now in custody for the Charlie Kirk shooting.
This is what the reel looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

The footage was initially published (archived here) by the account of the Salt Lake chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America on Instagram (archived here) on September 7, 2025. That post identified the speaker as "SLDSA Cochair Matty Jackson", adding that he discussed "his experience fighting for and winning a union."

The person portrayed in the screenshot above looks different from Tyler Robinson (archived here), a suspect in the murder of Kirk (archived here), who was arrested on September 11, 2025.
Amazon Rekognition, which is a face comparison tool, confirms that Robinson's mugshot (on the left) released by the authorities, does not show the man from the viral video (on the right):

Voter registration records in Utah, where Robinson resided and where the fatal shooting took place, list him as unaffiliated with any political party (archived here).
