Does a viral video really show a mother of six's rant about her "food stamps" and housing benefits being cut from $4,300 per month to $19 per month? No, that's not true: The woman appearing in the video has previously said she posts the rants as satire and they are not real. That dollar amount greatly exaggerates what is available to welfare recipients. The maximum monthly Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for a family of seven was $1,571 at the time her video was posted. The deposits to a welfare recipient's electronic benefits card, known as "EBT", wouldn't be affected by changes to federal housing subsidies. Section 8 housing subsidies are paid to landlords, not tenants.
The hoax originated in an August 21, 2025 TikTok video (archived here) published by the @court.ney._x0 account, with an on-screen caption that started: "FIVE DAYS NO FOOD". The captions continued:
and now they decrease my ebt from $4300/ month to $19/ month for SIX kids. No cash benefits, no section 8, we are going to be homeless by next month!! how is this making America great again Mr. TRUMP??!! and NO I refuse to get a job so dont even mention that in the comments
This is what the video looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

In a January 17, 2025 Tik Tok post (archived here), the same woman on the same account explained she posts fake rants about welfare benefits as satire. At the 00:17 mark, the woman says:
... I opened YouTube last night, and I watch a lot of court shows, like body cam, dash cam, child support court. And the first video that pops up, the title is 'Welfare Fraudster Doesn't Understand Consequences'. And that would be my kind of video, like that I would watch.
So I go to click on it. It's me! It's my TikTok, it's my face! You guys, none of that is real!
At the 00:59 mark, she continued:
95% of my content is satire, there is no way... if you go through my TikToks, there is no way I have all that shit going on in my life.
Her rant in the "FIVE DAYS" video greatly overstates the benefits that would be available to a woman with six children.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's web page about available beneifts, (archived here) the maximum SNAP benefit for a family of 7 was, as of October 23, 2025, $1,571:

Even if she did qualify for federal housing assistance through the Section 8 program, it would not show up on her EBT card. The US Department of Housing & Urban Development web page about the program (archived here) specifies that Section 8 funds are paid directly to landlords, not to the welfare recipient.
