Fact Check: Mike Johnson Did NOT Storm Out Of The House Chamber After Rachel Maddow 'Exposed' His Wife's Secret LLC Never Said

Did Mike Johnson storm out of the House of Representatives chamber after Rachel Maddow exposed his wife's secret LLC? No, that's not true: There is no evidence that the Speaker of the House stormed out of the chamber the MSNBC host aired an episode about his wife's secret LLC. There are no actual news reports of Johnson storming out of the House or about Maddow reporting on the existence of a secret LLC. The story, from a fake news site, was promoted by a Facebook page managed from Vietnam.

The story appeared in an October 25, 2025 post on Facebook account @TheAnchorSquare (archived here). It opened:

SHOCKING: Rachel Maddow shocked the nation by unveiling top-secret financial documents revealing that an LLC registered under Mike Johnson's wife's name may be linked to a shadowy chain of multi-million-dollar transactions.
As the evidence flashed on screen, Johnson reportedly went pale, stood up, and left the room in utter silence -- leaving the entire chamber stunned.

This is what the image in the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

The post has a link to a news article on a website that is filled with spam and popups and that presents text as images instead of text, which could thwart automated plagiarism detection tools. The article makes the same claims as the post, that Maddow revealed top-secret financial documents of an LLC run by Johnson's wife and that when he learned about the report on her television show he stormed out of the House of Representatives. There is no evidence offered, including clips from Maddow's show or video of Johnson from the floor of the House of Representatives.

Lead Stories ran the article text through the the AI detection tools on GPTZero.me and the results said that snippet was 100% likely written by AI, as this screenshot shows:

There are other variations of this claim using Rep. Jasmine Crockett as the one who "exposes" Johnson's wife's LLC, but this one on the YouTube account @EliteNostalgia writes in the comments it happened in a "fictional congressional hearing":

The page transparency tab of "The Anchor Square" Facebook page indicates it is being managed from Vietnam as this screenshot shows:

The Vietnam origin does not, in and of itself, prove the post is fake, but Lead Stories has in the weeks preceding this fact check, identified multiple false and ai-generated posts being used to generate traffic to accounts managed from Vietnam.

Had Johnson fled the House chamber after Maddow broadcast a story about his wife's secret LLC, it would have been major news.

A Google search (archived here) found no actual news reports of Johnson's actions nor his wife's secret LLC. Similarly, the Yahoo! News index of partner news sites and news services (archived here) turned up no legitimate news reports that either the speaker or the TV personality had done anything of the sort.
