Fact Check: There's NO Evidence Barron Trump Dropped Out Of NYU In Fall 2025 -- His Father Tells Barron's Niece Barron Will Be In Class 'Tuesday' He's At NYU/DC

Did Barron Trump drop out of New York University in the fall of 2025, as a viral social media post claimed? No, that's not true: The claim was made with no documentary, eyewitness or other evidence. The day before the post declared Barron had dropped out, Kai Trump, Barron's niece, posted a video in which President Trump said Barron was doing well in college. He told her Barron was headed back to class on "Tuesday" after the Columbus Day holiday. A number of established news outlets have reported Barron Trump enrolled in 2025 in NYU's Washington, DC program.

The claim appeared in an October 12, 2025 post on X (archived here) on the @cturnbull1968 account with the text "Hunter Biden: Georgetown undergrad and Yale Law. Lawyer and businessman. MAGA feverishly claimed he was unqualified to serve on the board of a natural gas company. ". It continued:

Barron Trump: Dropped out after one semester at NYU. MAGA thinks he's qualified to be on the board of TikTok.

Here is what the post looked like on X at the time this was written:

Lead Stories on Monday, October 13, 2025 asked the White House Press office for confirmation, but only received an email reminder that Monday was a national holiday and not to expect prompt service.

But on October 11, President Trump's grand-daughter Kai posted a YouTube video of herself golfing with Trump, during which she asked how her Uncle Barron was doing at NYU. At 21:34, she wraps up a putt and they chat as he drives the golf cart to the next tee:

Here's a cleaned-up excerpt from YouTube's automated transcript:

"How's Barron doing at NYU?" Kai asked.

"Good, he's doing good," Trump said in response. "He's a good boy. He loves you."

"He said, 'Say hello to Kai, Dad'," Trump continued. "I said, 'Why don't you come out and watch?'

Are... do they start school again?" Kai asked.

"Yeah, he starts on Tuesday," Trump said.

This matches un-refuted stories in The New York Post, relying on unnamed sources, that said after beginning his college career at New York University in 2024, Barron enrolled in NYU's Washington, DC program and moved from the family's Manhattan penthouse to The White House, which is close to the NYU Washington campus:
