Did Disney World announce it is closing permanently at the end of 2025? No, that's not true: The rumor originated from a satire website. As of this writing, no credible news outlet has reported that Disney World is scheduled to shut down for good.
The claim appeared in a reel (archived here) published on Facebook on November 21, 2025. The caption read:
We aren't crying, you are... okay we are too 🥺 #disneyworld #disneynews #disneyparks #disneyworldclosing #magickingdom
In the video, the narrator's voice continued:
Breaking news! Disney World is closing permanently. According to the April 1 press release, Disney is set to close their doors permanently at the end of 2025. Because of this, they are halting all construction on new projects. Disney is struggling financially, primarily due to a significant decline in theme park attendance. The main factor driving this massive increase is the cost to visit Disney World. It used to be a fairly affordable place to go. Oh, and now it isn't. They tried accepting food stamps to help, which we reported on earlier, but that didn't work. Disney is also making a lot of poor choices with their theme parks. They are closing a ton of rides that are nostalgic to their visitors, and opening new rides that people aren't excited about. There has been a massive waste of money on failed new projects. Some of these projects include retheming Rock 'n' Roller Coaster to the Muppets, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. Unfortunately, Disney World has been extremely mismanaged, and that's causing them to close permanently. The worst part is the guests are being blamed for the downfall and not liking the new changes.

The first hint suggesting that the story was not real was a reference to a press release issued on April 1, Fool's Day.
In the comment section, a link shared something published on that day, but it was not the purported Disney press release -- it was an article (archived here) on the website called "Mouse Trap News."
The viral reel made many people wonder if Mouse Trap News is fake: It indeed had a satire label.
The site's disclaimer (archived here) read:
Mouse Trap News is the world's best satire and parody site... We write fake stories about Disney Parks stuff.
On November 26, 2025, the park's website continued selling tickets past December 31, 2025.
Searches on Google News and Yahoo News (archived here) showed no credible reporting about the purported permanent closure.
