Fact Check: Trump Did NOT Write A Letter To Nancy Pelosi On Dec. 20, 2019 With An Encoded Message Fake Letter

Did Donald Trump write a letter to Nancy Pelosi on December 20, 2019 which contained a hidden message, "FUck YoU CUNT," spelled in the first letter of every line? No, that's not true: A search of the Trump White House archives did not produce a match for the screenshot which was posted on social media. There is no official record of this letter -- it is a fake.

The screenshot resurfaced in a post (archived here) published on X by @koshercockney on Nov. 7, 2025. It was captioned:

See you later Pelosi.
Anybody remember this?
Ain't nobody like Donald J Trump.

This fake letter to Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, is dated Dec. 20, 2019. It bears the White House letterhead, and the signature of Donald Trump. It has been circulating for almost six years. One early copy of the image was posted on Reddit (archived here) on Dec. 21, 2019.

The fake letter has three paragraphs. The first letters of each line of text spell out a hidden message. The screenshot is marked up with a red box to emphasize the message, "FUck YoU CUNT".

The first paragraph of the fake letter reads:

Frankly, we do not agree on much, but I will agree with you that the Founders of the United States of America did have much foresight in establishing our beautiful country. For that. I promise to present a State of the Union address in February, and I keep my promises.

There were two noteworthy letters from Trump to Pelosi at that time. One dated Dec. 17, 2019 was a long letter objecting to the first impeachment on which the House of Representatives voted the next day. Another letter dated Dec. 20, 2019 was brief, and covered official business regarding the budget & spending.

There is no official record of this other letter -- it is a fake. An advanced Google search: ("The Honorable Nancy Pelosi" AND "Frankly, we do not agree on much" site:trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov) did not produce a match.

A fact check was published by Truth or Fiction on Dec. 23, 2019.
