Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show Timberwolves National Anthem Ceremony For Renee Good, Minneapolis Mother Killed By ICE Satire Origin

Does this viral video show a ceremony during the Minnesota Timberwolves game Jan. 8, 2026 to commemorate the death of Renee Good? No, that's not true: The video was posted on a satire account. The video shows the wrong jerseys for the Timberwolves. Players for the Timberwolves and Cavaliers did stand silently to honor the 37-year-old Minneapolis woman shot and killed Jan. 7 by an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent, but the arena was darkened.

The video appeared in several posts, including a Jan. 12 X post (archived here) published by the @JebraFaushay account with text that read "I'm just going to keep my comments to myself.". Chyrons in the video read:

Minnesota Timberwolves Pierce Noses, Dye Hair & Wear Knit Hats in Honor of Renne & Her Wife During National Anthem.

The @jebrafaushay account bio describes itself as "Curator of cultural chaos | Mostly satire" and posts multiple times per day on conservative and anti-woke themes.

The video is clearly a spoof. As the camera pans left, the Timberwolves lineup includes a man much shorter and smaller than a pro basketball player, plus men with pink and green hair, and one with a nose ring.

Section IIB of the NBA rulebook (archived here) forbids players from wearing jewelry.

None of the 17 members of the Timberwolves had pink or green hair, according to the photos on the official roster on Jan. 13, 2025 (archived here).

The shortest player on the team, Mike Conley, is 6-1, while in the video posted to X, players with impossible numbers like "Z11" appear to be shorter than 5 feet:

Center Rocco Zikarsky's jersey (archived here) had the highest number on the Timberwolves: #44.

In the @jebrafaushay video, the Timberwolves are shown in dark blue jerseys with "Timberwolves" spelled out on the chest. But, the Jan. 8 game was played at home in the Target Center. Official NBA video shows that in that game, Minneapolis wore white home team jerseys, which feature a logo that only says "Wolves":

Coverage of the game on ABC affiliates like WTOK (archived here) showed the arena was darkened for the ceremony.
