Fact Check: Fake Video Of HOA Courtroom Drama Is AI-Generated Engagement Bait AI-Generated

Does a real video show a court case against a woman whose property was outside her homeowners association boundary but who was voted in and harassed with violation notices? No, that's not true: This video is AI-generated and does not show a real court proceeding. The video was published by a Facebook page based in India which has published many similar AI-generated reels featuring fake courtroom drama involving American HOA disputes. The Hive Moderation AI-Generated Content Detection tool determined with 99.1% confidence that the video was AI-generated.

The video resurfaced in a post (archived here) published on X by @HistorianUSA1 on May 24, 2026. The caption begins:

JUDGE GOES FULL BASED MODE ON OVERREACHING HOA KAREN BOARD

This woman's house sits RIGHT on the edge of an HOA but was never part of it.

They spent years harassing her with violation notices -- paint color, grass length, porch rules, the whole communist checklist -- then straight-up threatened to foreclose on her home over unpaid fines.

Her response? "Your Honor, my property isn't in their HOA. It never was."

The caption continued:

Watch the judge's face when the HOA lady admits the board "voted" to force her in without her knowledge. 😭

Judge: "Did you just say you voted her into the association?! She hasn't signed ANYTHING... If your HOA sends one more notice or harasses this woman one more time, I will disband your association."

HOAs = neighborhood communism with extra steps.

Petty tyrants who think they can "vote" your God-given property rights away. These clowns would fine the Founding Fathers for insufficient mulch.

ABOLISH HOAs.

Your home. Your rules. Not some nosy board's.

Lead Stories uploaded 25 seconds of the video to the Hive Moderation AI-Generated Content Detection tool, which determined with 99.1% confidence the video was AI-generated, as the screenshot below shows.

This video's fictional story lacks any verifiable facts such as a location, date, the names of the people involved, or the court case that would be on record if it had really happened.

Lead Stories identified two copies of this video published on March 26, 2026. One copy was published by @stories_time09 on TikTok (archived here). The TikTok account @stories_time09 has no bio and no disclaimer regarding AI-generated content.

Another copy of the video was published by SB News Network on Facebook. The page intro from SB News Network links to sbnews.in, an expired domain (archived here) which was at one time a news site from Rajasthan, India (archived here). The SB News Network Facebook page contains a mix of engagement bait posts and AI-generated videos. The screenshot below shows many thumbnails from the page's reels, the majority featuring courtroom scenarios.

A search on YouTube for the term "HOA Karen" reveals there is a genre of AI-generated videos based on these rage-baiting themes (archived here). Many videos have been published by channels with names like: HOA Karen Nightmares, Karen Karma Stories, and HOA Conflicts.
