Does a viral video show a real-life scene of a "scooter snapped in half at the green light" under its driver? No, that's not true: Two online detection tools found signs of AI. Lead Stories' visual analysis found artifacts consistent with AI generation.
The claim appeared in a post (archived here and here) published on X by @Sollu__iam on May 21, 2026. It opened:
The scooter snapped in half at the green light. he was still standing.😳
This is what a thumbnail from the attached video looked like at the time of writing:

AI detection tool Hive Moderation found that the clip was "93.7% likely to be AI-generated":

Hiya, a tool from the InVID verification plugin toolbox, considered the audio track to be 70% likely to be the product of AI-powered voice cloning:

A closer look revealed multiple artifacts that strongly pointed to AI. For example, the scooter's back wheel at first fell off, but seconds later, it appears still attached to the body of the vehicle:

Yet, as the man dumps the broken scooter in a hole, the rear wheel either dramatically shrank or disappeared again:

Despite the street light already green at the moment of the man's scooter collapsing, a person in the background appeared to have been waiting for the scene to unfold and film it in the middle of the heavy traffic, all while sitting backward on their scooter:

The video is likely to have originated on May 20, 2026, from an account on TikTok named "the.worldai". Its self-description read:

The initial caption (archived here) also labeled the video as AI:

Earlier, on April 28, 2026, the same account on TikTok published a similar video, showing a man with a similar body complexion but in a different -- red -- T-shirt:
