Fact Check: 'Love Our Cocks' Pride Month Joke Is NOT From Official South Carolina Gamecocks Account Unaffiliated

Did the official account of the South Carolina Gamecocks make a rainbow-themed Happy Pride Month post on X? No, that's not true: The post with the caption 'Boy we sure do love our cocks, Happy Pride Month!' is fake. The screenshot uses the @Gamecocks handle, which belongs to an unaffiliated fan page. There have been no new public posts on that account since Jan. 16, 2024. The verified X account for the South Carolina Gamecocks is @GamecocksOnline.

A fake screenshot appears in a post (archived here) published on X by @AstroSmokeyX on June 2, 2026. It was captioned:

Yikes.

This is the screenshot included with the post:

(Image source: @AstroSmokeyX post on X.)

The captions on the image read:

University of South Carolina Athletics
@Gamecocks

Boy we sure do love our cocks,
Happy Pride Month!
June 2026

The @Gamecocks account on X has the user name USC Gamecocks on SDS (archived here) not University of South Carolina Athletics as pictured. The account's bio:

South Carolina Gamecocks Football updates provided by Saturday Down South (@satdownsouth). Not affiliated with the University of South Carolina. #USC #Gamecocks

The original source of the screenshot could not be determined. The most recent post visible at the top of the @Gamecocks fan account is from Jan. 16, 2024.

The real X account for the South Carolina Gamecocks has a gold "premium business" verification badge and the handle, @GamecocksOnline (archived here). The account posts regularly and there is no public post from June 2026 that matches the screenshot. A search of the account for "Pride Month" shows that there have been supportive Pride Month posts made in the past without the suggestive humor (archived here and here). A 2022 post reads:

At South Carolina, y'all means all.

Happy #PrideMonth 🏳️‍🌈

A 2023 post reads:

As we finish Pride Month, it's important to remember to support, listen to and empower the LGBTQ+ community all year.
