Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show Masked, Armed Anti-Immigrant 'New Republican Movement' Responding To Belfast Knife Attack In June 2026 From 2025

Does a video show masked, armed members of the anti-immigrant "New Republican Movement" responding to a Belfast, Northern Ireland, knife attack in early June 2026? No, that's not true: The footage is from that group, but the video is from December 2025, six months earlier than the incident. In the clip, a statement is read that threatens local politicians over "policies" related to immigration.

The claim appeared in a post and video (archived here) by the @myhiddenvalue account on X on June 9, 2026. It read:

The video is embedded below:

In part, the video said:

To the people of Newry, Mourne and Down -- we, the New Republican Movement, have watched our councillors and MLAs [Members of the Legislative Assembly] over the past 12 months. The level of disrespect shown to the people who put you into power; this cannot be ignored any longer. We are proud men of Ireland; we are patriots. Your policies and decision-making with regards to flooding our communities with undocumented military-aged men is not acceptable.

The message in the video went on to threaten local politicians (archived here) over immigration policies.

Belfast knife attack

The knife attack, which took place on the evening of June 8, 2026, triggered anti-immigration violence in Belfast (archived here). A Sudanese man has been charged with attempted murder.

The video shared in the social media post has no connection to that incident. It first appeared online in early December 2025, half a year earlier. A post and video (archived here) by the IMJUSTNEWS account on Instagram on Dec. 2, 2025, is embedded here:
