The claim appeared in a post (archived here) published on X by the @JoN_TM account on Aug. 29, 2026. The original caption was in Russian. It read:

English-speaking users saw the following automatic translation:
FOXnews: Dozens of vessels heading to Lake American have piled up at the entrance to the Welland Canal. Canada is not granting them permission to proceed. Ships that listed Lake Ontario in their documents are passing through the canal without hindrance.

On Aug. 27, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump issued an executive order (archived here and here), renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America, and Google began showing (archived here) the new label for the U.S.-based audiences, but not for Canada.
