Did President Donald Trump make a real post calling for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to investigate Hunter Biden's cryptocurrency coin? No, that's not true: No record of such a post on Trump's Truth Social account exists. Additionally, there are no credible reports about the supposed statement.
The claim was made in a post (archived here) published on X by @camolNFT on Sept. 7, 2026. The post included an image of what appeared to be a screenshot from Trump's official Truth Social account and was captioned:
I wish this wasn't real 😭
The text in the image read:
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
THIS IS YOUR PRESIDENT SPEAKING! This morning, my handsome (and single) son Barron woke me up upset. He let me know that CRACKHEAD HUNTER 'HEROIN FIEND' BIDEN is launching a cryptocurrency token. Disgusting. Doesn't he know that there's only two true cryptos? TRUMP Token and Bitcoin??? I am urging FBI Director Kash 'Kriminal Hunter' Patel to launch a full investigation into this - likely launched by the Biden family morons and the adderall addicted crypto kids. Only real Americans own Trump token. That's why I am known as DONALD J SATOSHI TRUMP. Maybe we can make it illegal for anyone to own his coin, odds are it is going to go to $0 faster than the economy of Europe. Happy Labor Day!

Trump did not publish such a post about Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe Biden. On Sept. 7, 2026, it was announced that Hunter would launch a "memecoin" called "LAPTOP" (archived here), referencing his laptop from which sensitive information involving himself and his family was leaked. Although Trump has previously and regularly attacked Hunter -- including with the insult "crackhead" (archived here) -- there is no evidence he ever publicly made this specific statement.
The layout shown in the screenshot mimics that of Truth Social, where Trump often posts on his official account (archived here). A search of that page found no post matching the screenshot among posts made on Sept. 7, 2026. Trump's Truth, an archive of Trump's posts on the platform, also does not have a record of this post being published (archived here).
Searches on Google News (archived here) and Yahoo News (archived here) did not show any credible reports supporting the claim.
