Did President Donald Trump post a photo of himself in a military uniform covered in medals? No, that's not true: A review of Trump's Truth Social account found no record of such a post. There are also no credible reports that he shared a photo portraying himself in a military uniform covered in medals.
The claim appeared in a post (archived here) by the @TheRickWilson account on X on Sept. 5, 2026. It read:
What a pathetic dipshit.
Trump posted this to his Trash Social page.

Lead Stories manually reviewed Trump's Truth Social account for recent posts showing the same image (archived here). Lead Stories also searched Trump's Truth (archived here), a website that archives Trump's Truth Social posts, for posts containing the image from Sept. 1, 2026 through Sept. 5, 2026. At the time of writing, no posts were found matching it.
It was not immediately clear where the AI-generated post originated, but a Google reverse image search (archived here) on Sept. 7, 2026, showed this image may have first appeared online on Sept. 4, 2026. Some of the matches to the image were inaccurately linked to earlier dates by accounts that also shared it. Another reverse image search by TinEye (archived here) on Sept. 7, 2026, provided no results.
News searches
Lead Stories searched Google News (archived here) and Yahoo News (archived here) and found no matching reports for "Trump," "military uniform," "medals," and "photo."
Although Trump did not post this image of himself in a military uniform, he has done so before. Lead Stories fact-checked this post (archived here) from Aug. 4, 2026, on Truth Social, which showed Trump in an AI-generated image of himself standing between Gen. George Patton and Gen. Douglas MacArthur. The post is embedded below:
Trump also shared an image depicting himself as a military leader during the Revolutionary War in a post (archived here) on his Truth Social account (@realDonaldTrump) from July 4, 2023.
