Fact Check: FAKE Photo Shows Moment Woman Wearing 'Release the Epstein Files' Shirt Was Punched By Trump Supporters -- It Is AI-Generated AI Fist

Does a real photo show the moment a woman wearing a "Release the Epstein files" shirt was punched by Trump supporters? No, that's not true: Two online tools concluded the image was created using AI. However, it closely resembles a real-life incident at an October 2026 Trump rally in Youngstown, Ohio, but the woman shown in news photos of that event had different facial features and clothing.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) by the @Ally_Sammarco account on X on Oct. 14, 2026. It read:

If there's one photo to sum up the Trump era, this is it.

Image analysis

Lead Stories ran the image through OpenAI's verification tool (archived here). The tool detected a SynthID watermark (archived here) indicating the image was generated using OpenAI tools:

The Hive Moderation AI-Generated Content Detection tool (archived here) concluded that the image was 96.5% "Likely to be AI-Generated Image":

News searches

Lead Stories searched Google News (archived here) and Yahoo News (archived here) but found no matching reports from established news outlets that showed the woman in the fabricated image. The search used the terms "Epstein files," "shirt," "punched," and "Trump supporters."

The woman shown in the news reports was wearing glasses, had different facial features, and wore a green-and-blue plaid shirt over her "Release the Epstein files" T-shirt. The Trump rally took place in Youngstown, Ohio, on Oct. 12, 2026.

This is what a photo (archived here) of the incident by The Associated Press looked like at the time of writing:
