Fact Check: Texas Text NOT Intended For Dead Man But Living Registered Voter With The Same First And Last Name Not Same Man

Did a man receive a voting text message from VoteReady directed to his dead grandfather who was somehow registered to vote in Humble, Texas? No, that's not true: The name and address mentioned in the text are associated with a living person registered to vote in Harris County, Texas. It is not clear if the text intended for the Humble resident was misdirected to the grandson of the deceased man.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) published by the @camhigby account on X on Nov. 4, 2026. It read:

🚨A Texas tipster says that his Grandfather (dead for 16 years) was registered to vote in Humble Texas.

He says Humble, Texas is 5 hours away from where his grandfather lived, and that he never visited or stayed in the city.

This is what the images in the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

The two screenshots included with the post are pictured above -- one showing the text message with the address blurred, the other showing a Star-Telegram memorial page which reads in part:

Milton Dale Jordan
1937 - 2010

The text message reads:

+1 (734) 969-0407
A W JONES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - November 3rd, 2026
Milton, if you are registered to vote at [redacted], you should be able to vote on Tuesday at A W JONES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL at 7903 FOREST POINT DR, HUMBLE, TX 77338 (pictured). Confirm if that's correct and check hours on the official government site: https://goelect.txelections.civixapps.com/ivis-mvp-ui/#/login

The text message

A W Jones Elementary School at 7903 Forest Point Dr, Humble, TX is one of 623 polling locations (archived here) in Harris County, Texas.

The sender, VoteReady, has a .com website (archived here) which does not immediately disclose who is behind it. At the bottom of the homepage are three "Voter Tools": "Find Your Polling Place," "Get Election Reminders," and "Not 18? Pledge To Register." Clicking any of these will direct to other webpages from Turning Point Action at tpaction.com (archived here).

The link (archived here) offered at the end of the message directs to the Texas Secretary of State and is a personal voter portal where a person can check if they are registered to vote.

Message sent to another 'Milton Jordan'

The @camhigby account is relaying the claim from someone he calls a "Texas Tipster" who received this misdirected text message. Lead Stories looked up the Humble, Texas, address included in the text message. The public data records show a man in his forties -- not born in 1937 -- with the first name Milton, last name Jordan, associated with the property records at that address (pictured below with blur added for privacy).

Lead Stories checked the Harris County voter registration records and the man by that name, at that address, is registered to vote (pictured below with blur added).
