This is why eagles are feared and respected by other birds. This two-yard-long (two meters) wedge-tailed eagle spied an interloper flying in its territory, resulting in a dramatic attack. The eagle's prey was a drone carrying an HD camera that captured the approach and final moments, ending with the small aircraft's crash.
The Melbourne, Australia photographer who posted it on YouTube noted that the eagle was not hurt. "She was massive, and used talon's to 'punch' the drone out of the sky," the photog wrote.."Hung around overhead so I got a really good look. Eagle's health was my main concern also."
The drone, however, "needed some attention before it could fly again," the note said. It included this word of advice to other drone owners: "If you see a bird of prey while flying. Land. I have added this to my operating procedure."
