Google Changes: Not Just A New Logo

When Google launched 17 years ago you needed a desktop computer and Netscape or Internet Explorer browser to use it. But with smart phones and tablets taking over, Google is making a change "that reflects this reality and shows you when the Google magic is working for you, even on the tiniest screens," according to a Google blogpost announcing a new logo.

The new logo has the same colors, but they've integrated new features "for a world of seamless computing across an endless number of devices and different kinds of inputs (such as tap, type and talk)," the post said.

"For example, new elements like a colorful Google mic help you identify and interact with Google whether you're talking, tapping or typing," it said. "Meanwhile, we're bidding adieu to the little blue 'g' icon and replacing it with a four-color 'G' that matches the logo."

The post included a video showing the evolution of Google and what's new.
