Jeb Bush's defense of brother George W. Bush's presidency in the CNN GOP debate was "He kept us safe!" But if the former Florida governor continues to use that line, he'll face critics who point out that the 9/11 terror attacks that killed at least 2,977 people happened during his brother's administration.

Bush was responding to Donald Trump's suggestion that the ineptness of the last Bush presidency led to the Obama presidency.
"Your brother and your brother's administration gave us Barack Obama, because it was such a disaster those last three months that Abraham Lincoln couldn't have been elected," Trump said to Bush.
"You know what, as it relates to my brother, there's one thing I know for sure," Bush replied. "He kept us safe! I don't know if you remember, Donald, you remember the rubble? You remember the firefighter with his arms around him? He sent a clear signal that the United States would be strong and fight Islamic terrorism and he did keep us safe."
