It could be days before we know which Democrat won the Iowa caucuses outright because of an apparent screw-up involving 90 of the state’s 1,800 precincts. CNN quoted a Sanders campaign official saying that the Iowa Democratic Party is working to “recreate” the results of 90 precincts that were not adequately staffed. CNN’s Wolfe Blitzer called it “very, very embarrassing” for the Democratic Party. With 99% of the vote, Hillary Clinton has 49.8% and Bernie Sanders has 49.6%. While the two candidates are likely to split the 44 delegates at stake evenly, it is important for a campaign to have the “bragging rights” to say they won the state.

Hillary Clinton stopped short of declaring victory over Bernie Sanders, but she said she was "breathing a big sigh of relief, thanking Iowa.” Clinton, with former President Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea standing behind her, said "I am a progressive who gets things done for people" who stands in "a long line of American reformers." She also suggested she was "thrilled" to be in a contested race with Sanders. "I’m excited about getting into the debate with Sen. Sanders."

MSNBC and CNN are calling the Iowa GOP caucuses for Ted Cruz.

With 81% of Democratic precincts reported, Hillary Clinton has 50.1% and Bernie Sanders has 49.2%.

With 97% of GOP precincts reported, it is 28% for Ted Cruz, 24% for Donald Trump, 23% for Marco Rubio & 9% for Ben Carson. Still a chance Rubio could challenge Trump for 2nd place before it is over.

There are 44 Democratic convention delegates and 30 GOP delegates at stake in Iowa tonight.

Ted Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler tells CNN: “I feel a little nervous, but cautiously optimistic.” With 60% of GOP votes counted, it shows w 28% for Cruz, 25% Trump, 22% Rubio & 10% for Carson. GOP 5th place is Rand Paul at 4%, Jeb Bush just 3%.

With 69% of Democratic precincts reported, Hillary Clinton 51% to Bernie Sanders 49%. A Clinton official tells CNN it's "uncomfortably close," while a Sanders source says the senator will declare victory in Iowa, no matter what.

CNN says Marco Rubio, whose 3rd so far in Iowa, will get a bump Tuesday as South Carolina's Sen. Tim Scott will endorse him.
