Meryl Streep's reply to a reporters question about the lack of racial diversity on the jury at the Berlin Film Festival is causing quite a stir on social media. The Oscar-winning actress rationalized the all-white panel of film judges by suggesting that all of the members are actually descendants of Africans. "There is a core of humanity that travels right through every culture, and after all we're all from Africa originally, you know, we're all Berliners, we're all Africans, really,"
And they are diverse, she argued. The jury includes a critic , a director, actors, a photographer and a cinematographer with diverse perpesctives on what films are best. They may be all white, but "we're all human beings."
