Cam Newton HAS NOT been arrested for fixing Super Bowl 50, Nor Did He take in a whopping $100MIL by betting on the Denver Broncos. As if the heartbreaking loss isn't enough, now Cam is under fire with these silly allegations.
There is a NOT TRUE story roaming around out there, posted by a known hoax site, alleging:
Police have arrested Cam Newton his father, his uncle Richie and seven other people, including four panthers players, over allegations of a football betting scam in which they fixed the 2016 super bowl".
The story goes on to say:
It is believed that there was a pattern of irregular betting, with stakes being put on the Denver Broncos at the last minute totaling 100 Million. These were done by several different accounts owned by Newtons family and linking back to Cam. Other red flags were raised by Cam's questionable gameplay by poorly throwing several passes and making no attempt to recover a fumble. Newtons 58-year-old father, also called Big Cam, is thought to have been arrested at his home".
The picture accompanying the article leads you to believe that is Cam Newton's mugshot from this recent arrest. NOT TRUE.
According to the Smoking Gun post on this image:
Cam was arrested by Florida cops in November 2009 and charged with grand theft, burglary, and obstructing justice in connection with the boosting of another student's Dell laptop".
Even though the story comes from a site that is about satire, humor, and stories that are not true, many people don't scroll all the way down to see that. Be warned, people are out there spreading painfully false rumors about Cam Newton.
