Is Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron's wife the granddaughter of Sen. Mitch McConnell? No, that's not true. A rumor went viral that Mackenze Evans was the granddaughter of the Republican Senate majority leader. Cameron's spokeswoman, Elizabeth Kuhn, told Lead Stories that was "false." There is also no support for the claim she is the senator's niece.
The claim appeared as a post (archived here) published on Facebook on September 24, 2020. It opened:
So apparently Kentucky AG Daniel Cameron married Mitch McConnell's granddaughter last month!

Cameron, 34, and Evans, 27, were married on August 3, 2020, in Louisville, Kentucky, and Republican Sen. McConnell of Kentucky attended the wedding, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported. Cameron served as McConnell's legal counsel from 2015 to 2017, and led the confirmation process for judges, including Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, while working for the senator.
McConnell has three children, Porter, Claire and Eleanor. Evans is not the daughter of any of them, and she is not McConnell's granddaughter.
