Fact Check: Despite Peruvian Court Declaration, There Is NO Evidence Soros, Gates and Rockefeller Created COVID-19 No Evidence

Did George Soros, Bill Gates and the Rockefeller family create the COVID-19 virus, as a three-judge Peruvian court declared? No, that's not true: Although the exact location and origin of the virus has not been definitively identified, many virologists and other scientists studying the issue believe it likely spread from bats to humans in a live market in Wuhan, China. The judges in Peru appear to have used one of the many baseless conspiracy theories surrounding the origin of COVID-19 as a convenient excuse for not having a ruling on time in an unrelated court case.

The story appeared in an article published by the 20minutos newspaper in Spain on January 11, 2021, titled, "Un tribunal peruano acusa a Bill Gates, Soros y Rockefeller de crear la COVID-19" (In English: "A Peruvian court accuses Bill Gates, Soros and Rockefeller of creating COVID-19") (archived here) which opened:

Un tribunal de Per煤 afirm贸, en una resoluci贸n basada en teor铆as conspirativas, que la COVID-19 fue una invenci贸n de las "茅lites criminales a nivel mundial" conformadas, seg煤n los magistrados de esta corte, por multimillonarios como George Soros, la familia Rockefeller y el empresario y cofundador de Microsoft Bill Gates.

Which in English means:

A Peruvian court claimed, in a resolution based on conspiracy theories, that COVID-19 was invented by "worldwide criminal elites" made up, according to the judges in that court, of multimillionaires like George Soros, the Rockefeller family and businessman and Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates.

The three-judge appeals court in Peru cited the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason they did not have a ruling on a prisoner's bid for release done on time. The pandemic, they said, could not have been predicted, except by its "creators in the New World Order" -- Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, investor and philanthropist George Soros and the Rockefeller family. The judges said in a December 21, 2020, statement cited by the Peruvian legal news service lpderecho that:

... the judicial proceeding was paralyzed because of the Covid 19 pandemic, created by criminal elites who rule the world, and which paralyzed activities in nearly all the nations of the world ... This event was unforeseeable and is a justified cause that paralyzed, and will keep hindering not only judicial labors of the courts of the world, but also all the economic, social and cultural activities ... So, no world government, citizens and judges, nor the defense of the accused can maintain that this epidemic was 'foreseeable,' except to its creators in the New World Order such as Bill Gate [sic], Soros, Rockefeller, etc. who directed it and keep directing it with an outrageous secretism inside their environments and world corporations ...

The World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say the Corona virus comes from the animal world.

The CDC said on January 21, 2021:

We do not know the exact source of the current outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), but we know that it originally came from an animal, likely a bat.

There has been no scientific evidence that the virus was manufactured in a lab. The WHO had already determined nearly a year ago that it was highly unlikely that the virus was made in a laboratory, stating in a March 26, 2020, report:

At this stage, it is not possible to determine precisely how humans in China were initially infected with SARS-CoV-2. However, all available evidence suggests that SARS-CoV-2 has a natural animal origin and is not a manipulated or constructed virus. SARSCoV-2 virus most probably has its ecological reservoir in bats.

Furthermore, the WHO report said:

All SARS-CoV-2 isolated from humans to date are closely related genetically to coronaviruses isolated from bat populations, specifically, bats from the genus Rhinolophus. SARS-CoV, the cause of the SARS outbreak in 2003, is also closely related to coronaviruses isolated from bats. These close genetic relations suggest that they all have their ecological origin in bat populations. Bats in the Rhinolophus genus are found across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. SARS-CoV-2 is not genetically related to other known coronaviruses found in farmed or domestic animals. The analysis of the virus genome sequences also indicates that SARS-CoV-2 is very well adapted to human cell receptors, which enables it to invade human cells and easily infect people. All the published genetic sequences of SARS-CoV-2 isolated from human cases are very similar, suggesting that the start of the outbreak resulted from a single point introduction in the human population around the time that the virus was first reported in humans in Wuhan, China. The analyses of the published genetic sequences further suggest that the spillover from an animal source to humans happened during the last quarter of 2019.

The World Health Organization has convened an international team to conduct a Global Study of the Origins of SARS-CoV-2.

Like a child who hasn't finished a school assignment on time, the Peruvian judges have some explaining to do. The legal news service lpderecho reported on January 11, 2021, that top-level judicial officials in Peru announced they will start an investigation into the statement by the three judges.
