Fact Check: NO Evidence To Substantiate Article's Claim That Bill Clinton Was Found Dead At Guantanamo Bay Satirical Post

Was Bill Clinton found dead in his jail cell located at Guantanamo Bay? No, that's not true: No publicly available evidence supports the claim, made on Real Raw News, a satirical website that publishes articles like this one for entertainment purposes. Clinton has been active on social media and spotted in public on the days and after the days the claim purports he was on trial at Guantanamo. The U.S. Department of Defense has refuted all such claims by Real Raw News, pointing out that military tribunals have no jurisdiction over civilians.

The claim appeared as an article published by Real Raw News on September 26, 2021, titled "Bill Clinton Dead at GITMO - Real Raw News" (archived here) which opened:

Former President William Jefferson Clinton, whom on July 24 the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps sentenced to life in prison at Guantanamo Bay, was found dead in his cell early Saturday morning.

Users on social media only saw this title, description and thumbnail:

The article continued:

Sources at the nation's most infamous detention center told RRN that GITMO security discovered Clinton's lifeless body at approximately 7:00 a.m., when they were delivering breakfast trays to segregated prisoners.

Lead Stories has reached out to the Pentagon and the Clinton Foundation for a comment on this claim. We will update this story if we receive a response from either party.

Clinton tweeted out support ("Go, Hogs, go!") for his home-state football team on September 25, 2021, two days after he was spotted at a Manhattan cocktail party.

The death of any former president would prompt massive global news coverage, and in this case there was nothing beyond the Real Raw News story.

Real Raw News has a long history of publishing false claims in mock news stories, many of them about convictions and executions of various public figures at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. For example, the site reported former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was hanged (she wasn't); former White House Chief of Staff John Podesta was executed (he wasn't); and that "the military" convicted former Attorney General William Barr on charges of treason (it didn't).
