Fact Check: Hillary Clinton Was NOT Hanged At Gitmo Alive & Well

Was Hillary Clinton hanged at Guantanamo Bay on April 26, 2021? No, that's not true: The claim is the latest in a series of false claims about Clinton that have appeared on a website known for publishing fake news. Lead Stories has debunked prior allegations, including the claim that Clinton was arrested, that she faced a military tribunal and that she was convicted by the tribunal. None is true. Similarly, a spokesperson with the Defense Department told Lead Stories that the story about Clinton being executed is false.

The claim appeared in an article (archived here) published by Real Raw News on April 26, 2021. The article, which was titled, "Hillary Clinton Hanged at GITMO," opened:

Scrambled eggs with jalapeno peppers, and a strawberry milkshake. The last meal of the condemned.

Hillary Rodham Clinton was hanged at Guantanamo Bay Monday night, her death the culmination of an operation that began on March 2 when U.S. Navy SEALs on Donald J. Trump's authority arrested the disgraced politician at her Chappaqua, NY mansion.

Lead Stories reached out to the Defense Department to ask about the story's claim. In an email, dated April 27, 2021, a duty officer responded:

This story is not factual.

Real Raw News has a history of publishing false claims, many of which have been about Clinton, a former secretary of state and presidential candidate. For example, it reported that U.S. Navy SEALs arrested Clinton (they didn't); it said that she faced a military tribunal on April 8, 2021 (she didn't); and it reported that she was convicted by said tribunal on April 16, 2021 (she wasn't).

Since her supposed arrest, on March 2, 2021, Clinton has tweeted from her public verified account. She has also done live appearances and commented on recent events, all of which would have been extraordinarily unlikely if she had been held at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

If Clinton had been arrested, tried and executed, it seems improbable to the point of impossible that such events were kept a secret. They would be front-page news. We looked for other reports on the execution of the former U.S. Secretary of State and junior senator from New York and could find no credible corroboration.
